Warp Trails: Discovery #4-10 The Galactic Barrier

by Warp Trails

Time is of the essence as Captain Burnham and the crew of the Discovery reach the Galactic Barrier. Crossing will be treacherous, and species Ten-C is on the other side.

With the failure to stop the DMA, the mission to make contact with species Ten-C is expedited. First, this means a trip through the Galactic Barrier. Nobody has accomplished this before, and Discovery can’t just use the spore drive to jump across it. While Michael Burnham, her crew, President Rillak, and the delegates make the trip, disturbing news arrives from Starfleet. Meanwhile, Booker and Tarka declare a truce while Tarka explains himself and they search for the material needed to make their own trip across the Galactic Barrier at an Emerald Chain camp.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Kovich’s explanation of how communicating, first contact, and translating speech with species Ten-C will not go how they think,
  • Saru and President T’Rina’s blossoming relationship,
  • The conflict and resolution in the relationship between Burnham and President Rillak,
  • Stamets and Adira’s father/child relationship,
  • Crossing the Galactic Barrier, and
  • Tarka’s history as explained to Booker.
