Warp Trails: Discovery #4-09 Rubicon

by Warp Trails

Captain Burnham confronts Booker in an attempt to prevent the destruction of the DMA. Commander Nhan is installed as a failsafe to see that she does.

Time is running out. Captain Burnham and the Discovery are dispatched to track down Booker and Tarka before they can attack the DMA and destroy it. The twist is that Commander Nhan is assigned to Discovery to make sure she stops Booker and Tarka at any cost. A chase ensues and the situation escalates as Tarka becomes desperate to complete his mission. However, Burnham comes up with a last second compromise as she seeks to find the middle ground. Can Tarka accept this?

In this episode we discuss:

  • The theme of “middle ground” that ran throughout the episode,
  • Commander Nhan’s return and role on this mission,
  • The potential relationship between Saru and President T’Rina,
  • Disagreements among the crew on how to handle the DMA,
  • Tarka’s actions and acting against Booker’s wishes, and
  • The consequences of destroying the DMA.
