The Trade Federation #65

by RetroZap Staff

Joe and Bill chat about all  the latest Star Wars Card Trader news and releases including Open Edition, Storyboards, Pink Cloth, and 1-of-1 Luminaries, on the latest episode of the Trade Federation Podcast.

Joe and Bill discuss their general dislike for Open Edition cards with hidden counts; the new, seemingly frustrating, Storyboards pack journey; the simple beauty of the Cloth Pink mechanics; and the oddball decision by Topps to make 1-of-1 Luminaries. Trade Federation Episode 65 focuses on recent updates, a couple phone calls, and as always the weekly poll.

The Trade Federation #65

Open Edition cards seem to be the new trend for Topps Digital. Not very well regarded among the active SWCT community members, are these hidden-count cards here to stay? But who knows, there was once a time when untradeable cards seemed like the future of the app, and those have died down a bit lately.

Storyboards are back! Well, sort of. At least the card frame is back. Everything else is different. This all-Grievous set is a pack journey, completion of which is likely to drive even the most patient of fans crazy. Watch out for the “Capture Card”! (no whammy no whammy no whammy)

Of all the sets to dedicate a $100 exclusive 1-0f-1, 1-of-2, and 1-of-3 card set to, Luminaries would likely have been last an many fans’ lists, but Bill has an idea as to why Luminaries might actually be the best candidate for a set like this.

While last week’s poll focused on Legends/EU material, this week’s poll involves canon content that fans would like to see make it into the app. Phone calls from CurtNeedsARide and Martine round out the episode. Also, we finish in the midst of the great SWCT giveaway where fans started receiving free credits and free inserts as a thank you from Topps for playing their app.

As always, thanks for listening, happy hunting, and may the force be with you!
