Top Gun: Maverick

“I feel the need, the need for speed.”  That’s right, Top Gun is coming back for a sequel! Last week Tom Cruise confirmed the follow-up film and it’s title, Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise gave even more info on the project, stating that Harold Faltermeyer will return to score the film and that shooting might begin early next year. The movie is set to explore drone technology and have a competition-style plot much like the first one. Val Kilmer has expressed interest in returning to reprise the role of Iceman as well. Only time will tell if Kilmer will return to the Danger Zone opposite Cruise in the upcoming film.

Bounty hunters in space! The popular anime Cowboy Bebop is set for a live action adaptation for American audiences. Sunrise, the studio that produced the original series, has given Marty Adelstein’s Tomorrow studio (in partnership with Midnight radio) to produce the show. No casting has yet been announced. The original series had 26 episodes, the final one ending in 1999. The show follows a ship (Bebop) piloted by bounty hunters–Spike Spiegel (con artist), Jet Black (former police officer), Ed Wong (hacker), Faye Valentine (a con artist, but with amnesia), and their super intelligent dog Ein, a corgi.
