 Star Wars Celebration Orlando

This is the final week before Celebration begins, and two of the saga’s biggest stars are set to attend the big event! Next Thursday, April 13 Star Wars Celebration Orlando will be hosting a feature panel, “40 Years of Star Wars“. In attendance will be Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker)! Huge news! This will be the first time Christensen has attended a Celebration since 2002. The panel will also showcase Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, Peter Mayhew, Billy Dee Williams, Ian McDirmid, and Anthony Daniels. If you’re going to Celebration, this is a must see event!

The Defenders

Marvel and Netflix’s crossover is coming! Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand assemble as The Defenders August 18th. Check out the cool new video teaser here. Tune in for all episodes streaming on Nextfilx this summer.

Invincible

Robert Kirkman is famous for creating The Walking Dead, but he has also been writing a long-running comic book series since 2003, and now it’s getting the film treatment. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are preparing to turn Invincible into a major picture for Universal. The comic book stars Mark Grayson, a teen that finds out his father is the world’s top superhero. Grayson also learns he has incredible superpowers as well. The comic book series is drawing to a close soon, with the final issue #144 scheduled later this year.

The Mummy

The trailer for The Mummy was released earlier this week, and it is packed with action! The film will feature Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Sofia Boutella, and Annabelle Wallis. The film is a reboot of The Mummy from 1999 which starred Brendan Frasier. This new film, however, seems darker and with less humor, but nonetheless filled with traditional Tom Cruise action and suspense. Release date for The Mummy is scheduled for June 9, 2017.

Dune

Late last year Legendary acquired the studio rights to Frank Herbert’s Dune for both film and television projects. Now Legendary has recruited Academy Award winner Eric Roth to write the Dune reboot. Roth is best known for writing Forrest Gump (for which he won the Academy Award), Munich, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The movie will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival and Sicario). This reboot seems to be heading in an exciting direction! No word yet on an estimated release date.
