Trailers Galore!

Of course Comic-Con is the place to debut new movie trailers, and this year studios did not disappoint. Here are the trailers for Aquaman, Glass, Shazam!, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Titans.

Behold, Atlantis! The first official trailer for Warner Bros.’ Aquaman premiered at SDCC. And it’s an underwater paradise filled with adventure! The highly anticipated trailer follows Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) as he is torn between protecting the surface world or returning to the sea where his fellow Atlanteans are in turmoil. Director James Wan brings the fabled underwater kingdom to life, and the trailer packs plenty of promised action. Aquaman hits theaters December 21.

Director M. Night Shymalan brings his superhero/anti-hero trilogy to a close with the upcoming film Glass. The trailer brings intrigue and an exciting concept of are they or aren’t they endowed with superpowers. Bruce Willis (David Dunn), James McCoy (Kevin Wendell Crumb), and Samuel L. Jackson (Mr. Glass) reprise their roles from the previous Shymalan films. Glass comes to theaters January 18, 2019.

SHAZAM!  The trailer for the new film by director David F. Sandberg debuted at SDCC and looks delightful! The film features Asher Angel as teenager Billy Batson who gains the ability to transform into adult superhero Shazam (played by Zachary Levi). Mark Strong will play the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Shazam! comes to theaters April 5, 2019.

Newt Scamander returns! The official new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald arrived at SDCC along with many of the film’s stars. The wizarding world is entering a war as the evil dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) plots to destroy all non-magic beings and raise wizards to rule above all. Eddie Redmayne returns as Newt Scamander, with Katherine Waterson as Tina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, plus new comers Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange and Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald comes to theaters November 16, 2018.

The great titans return! The trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters dropped at SDCC. The film focuses on a zoological agency tasked with saving Earth by releasing the monsters that once roamed it. Godzilla will face off against Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. It is directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Millie Bobbie Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga, Kyle Chandler, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, and Ken Wantanabe. Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters May 31, 2019.

TV Trailers

The live-action Teen Titans show premiered it’s first trailer, and it was probably the most controversial of all the SDCC trailers. Rated TV-MA (for just the trailer!), it introduces the main Titans characters (Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire) and how the join up. Warning–the trailer has explicit language and violence. Titans premiers on DC Universe this fall.

Matt Groening (creator of the Simpsons) debuted the trailer for his newest animated creation Disenchantment and it looks great! The series is coming to Netflix next month! Follow a hard-drinking princess and her elf friend on their many misadventures, all while laughing your butt off! Check out the series August 17.

Syfy channel debuted it’s trailer for Nightflyers, a tv adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s 1980 novella. The show writer will be Jeff Buhler (Martin can not be involved due to an exclusivity clause with HBO). The story is based on a crew of deep space explorers on a mission, and they must deal with an evil aboard their ship. Nightflyers hits tv this fall.

The doctor will see you now! She’s here! The trailer for Doctor Who season 11 featuring Jodie Whittaker as the titular doctor has arrived! Whittaker will play the thirteenth incarnation of the famous Time Lord, and she is the first woman to play the role. The trailer looks fantastic and promises a fun, intriguing new season. Doctor Who season 11 premiers on BBC One this fall.
