Star Wars Celebration Orlando

Two big names have officially been confirmed for Star Wars Celebration–Luscasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson! The two are slated to be on stage Friday, April 14th. Warwick Davis will return as the host for the panel, and there are sure to be special guests and surprises. Sounds like an exciting event!

R2-D2

The droid torch has been officially passed. Actor Jimmy Vee will carry on in the late Kenny Baker’s role as the lovable droid R2-D2. Vee had worked alongside Baker on The Force Awakens, so he is not entirely new to the role. Much of R2-D2’s scenes are CGI nowadays, but Vee will be used in some scenes. Mr. Vee released a statement about taking over the role:  “It’s been an absolute pleasure to have worked alongside the legendary Kenny Baker. Kenny was a fantastic actor and taught me all the ‘tricks’ on how he brought R2-D2 to life which I will continue to portray in his honour. I’m so excited to be a part of the Star Wars universe and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working so hard on for the last year.” Good luck Mr. Vee!

Force Friday 2017

Mark the calendar! This year’s Force Friday is set for September 1st. Toys, collectibles, books and more will hit shelves at 12:01 a.m. that Friday. Check out the photo of the new packaging for The Last Jedi. It features great images of Finn, Rey (with her hair down!), and Poe Dameron. Not to mention a shattered red lightsaber in the background (what could it mean?!).

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War

Tony Stark, er Robert Downy Jr. that is, hosted a Facebook Live event from the current set of Avengers: Infinity War this week. The video is a super fun behind the scenes look at the film. The video camera operator sounded very familiar while reading questions. Low and behold, at the end of the video the cameraman is revealed to be none other than Tom Holland a.k.a. Spider-man! Thus confirming Spidey is in Infinity War! Check out the video here for even more surprises.

Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell is quickly approaching theaters, and now a new trailer is helping to sketch out the plot for moviegoers. Scarlett Johansson stars as Major, a human-cyborg tasked with saving others and stopping dangerous criminals. As Major struggles to find her place in the world, she embarks on a quest to find out more about her past, and learns that not all is as it seems. Ghost in the Shell hits theaters March 31, 2017.

Stranger Things Season 2

C’mon Halloween! Stranger Things Season 2 is adding some new characters–a young girl named Max, and Dr. Owens, a government employee charged with cleaning up the events from Season 1. Dr. Owens will be played by Paul Reiser, and there isn’t much known about the new character yet.  Max, played by actress Sadie Sink, is set to be a friend of the main group of boys from Season 1, a tomboy who is confident and tough. The new season begins on Halloween.

Most Excellent

Whoa! This week Keanu Reeves has suggested the long awaited Bill & Ted 3 movie is almost ready–but there are still some roadblocks in the way.  Apparently in an interview Reeves said the film is creatively ready to go, but it still has complications with rights and contracts. Reeves teased a bit of the plot, “Bill &Ted are supposed to write the song that’s supposed to change the world but it hasn’t happened so they’re older now and they’re still trying to find out that song.”  Hopefully everything will work out; this film would be totally bodacious!
