Podcast Stardust #69: Underdog

by Podcast Stardust

A common thematic element of Star Wars is the role of the underdog. On this episode, we cover many of them from Anakin and Padmé to the Rebellion and Ewoks and more.

Star Wars is the story of a series of underdogs. It began with the Rebellion in the underdog role against the Empire, and recently featured the Resistance as the underdog against the First Order.  The underdog doesn’t always win, and sometimes, the underdog isn’t what the audience expects. On this episode, we analyze and discuss the various underdogs from across Star Wars and their role and fate in the movies.

On this fully armed and operational episode we discuss:

  • What is an underdog in Star Wars and why audiences are drawn to them,
  • The Rebellion as the underdog to the Empire,
  • Anakin, Padmé, and other characters of the prequels,
  • Various characters from The Clone Wars,
  • Han Solo from Solo: A Star Wars Story,
  • The characters from Rogue One, and
  • Many other underdog moments across the saga.
