Thrawn returns with another adventure in the Chaos. Can he use his powers of deductive reasoning to prevent a Chiss civil war?
In Chaos Rising, Thrawn was adopted by the Mitth family and rose through the ranks of the military to take the rank of Senior Captain. Once there, he created political enemies inside the Chiss Ascendancy both inside his own house and others. However, he overcame those obstacles to stop the dangerous Nicardune from enacting a plot against the Chiss. Now, in Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, Thrawn must see through deception in order to prevent a plot from blossoming into a civil war that will bring down the Chiss.
On this fully armed and operational episode, we discuss:
- Thrawn’s overall role in this book and playing a smaller part,
- The style of the book and pacing issues,
- The complicated nature of Chiss names, families, and politics,
- How Thrawn’s observations worked in this novel compared to others,
- The mysterious Agbui and how they nearly ignited a civil war,
- The complicated plot to create a civil war among the Chiss, and
- Whether Thrawn really is inept as politics as everyone says.
