MCU: Location Scout – Project Insight

by Jovial Jay

The Helicarriers of Project Insight are coming for people that live very close to me! This may have been my easiest find yet!

SHOW: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 2014

When The Winter Soldier was released and the Helicarriers start selecting their targets, I thought I had noticed something very local to me. After targeting the President, Tony Stark and Doctor Strange, there was a final screen that appeared that looked like it had said Ellicott City! That’s my neighboring town! So when the video came out for the film I knew I had to figure this out.

Project InsightThe shot starts on Michael Lindon, Ellicott City, MD and zooms out to show a baseball diamond and then the surrounding neighborhoods. Ellicott City is not that big, and the large swath of green in the middle looked very much like the easement for the power lines that run through town.

Project InsightSo checking into Google Maps, it was pretty easy to locate. It looks like the filmmakers used the aerial maps of the area around Ellicott Mills Middle School to build their satellite image. This is a pretty exciting find for me personally, as it is probably the closest MCU Filming Location to my house.
