Star Wars: Episode IX

BIG new on Episode IX this week. A writer/director has been selected! It is none other than the chosen one himself–J.J. Abrams! Abrams is returning to finish up the sequel trilogy as director, and will co-write the script with Chris Terrio. With this new announcement, Lucasfilm has decided to bump the release date of the film back. Star Wars: Episode IX will premiere December 20, 2019–just in time for Christmas!

Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View

This week fans were treated to brief excerpts from the 40 stories that will fill the upcoming book Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View.  The excerpts were released via Twitter (@DelReyStarWars) and gave information on what stories/characters will appear and by which authors. The stories take place before/during/directly after Star Wars: A New Hope. Some stories will be from the views of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, droids, barkeeps, pilots, and many different aliens. Del Rey also released a list of voice talent for the auidobook of From a Certain Point of View. There are many talented voices listed, and notably Mr. Jon Hamm will voice Boba Fett! This book will be amazing! Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View will be released October 3.

Hellboy

Check out this photo of David Harbour as the new Hellboy! Wow! Harbour (Stranger Things) looks amazing–the filed down horns, muscles, and Fist of Doom look spot-on. The new take on Hellboy will be directed by Neil Marshall and co-written by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, and will star Harbour, Milla Jojovich, and Ian McShane. The film is set for a January 2019 release.

The Punisher

Netflix released some new images from The Punisher this week, including a new look at Frank Castle! The pictures include some background on Castle’s (Jon Bernthal) military past, plus new images of Karen Page (Deborah Ann-Woll). Check out the photos here! The Punisher does not yet have a release date, but is set to drop later this year.

Wonder Woman 2

Rejoice Wonder Woman fans! Patty Jenkins has officially signed on to direct Wonder Woman 2! Jenkins will return to direct the second Wonder Woman film after the wildly successful run of the first film. No details were given as to the deal Jenkins struck, but whatever it was she deserves it! So far Wonder Woman 2 has been given a debut date of December 13, 2019.
