Deadpool 2

Wow! Check out Josh Brolin as Cable–it’s spot-on comic book faithful! The photo comes courtesy of Mr. Ryan Reynolds’ (aka Deadpool) Twitter feed, plus another picture from Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld. Brolin looks threatening and intriguing, which is good as Cable is a time-traveling nut, and best bud of Deadpool. This sequel already looks promising. Deadpool 2 hits theaters June 1, 2018.

Hellboy

The new upcoming Hellboy reboot by director Neil Marshall has it’s villain! Milla Jovovich is set to play the Blood Queen, joining David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy. Jovovich has been in many sci-fi films, most notably the Resident Evil series. But while playing the good guy in those films, this time she gets a shot at wearing the black hat. The reboot is still getting the script drafted and has no release date at this time.

Disney Streaming Service

Netflix has been the go-to streaming service for all Disney movies. That’s about to change in the next few years. Disney announced it has plans to pull its films from Netflix and start up a new streaming service sometime in 2019. The official press release from Disney states, “The new Disney-branded service will become the exclusive home in the U.S. for subscription-video-on-demand viewing of the newest live action and animated movies from Disney and Pixar”. This will be a big blow to Netflix for sure. Only time will tell how well the new Disney service works.

The Advice of Billy Dee

In a big interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Donald Glover (the new Lando Calrissian), Glover tells what it was like talking with Billy Dee Williams (the original suave Lando) to get an idea of the famous character. The article is an in-depth look at Glover’s expansive career–actor, writer, Grammy nominated singer–and is fascinating in general, not just for the blurb on the meeting with Billy Dee. Glover admits he had a lot of ideas for the character of Calrissian, and asked Mr. Williams about them. In the end, the final advice Mr. Williams had for him? “Just be charming.”  Sounds like perfect advice!
