ARGcast #136: Black Female Characters in Gaming with REDinFamy

by RetroZap Staff

We “take the risk” with the gaming geektress herself REDinFamy to talk about black female characters and how they could be done better.

Let’s get sassy, ARGonauts! Mika Moultrie AKA REDinFamy joins us for a no-holds-barred conversation about the representation of black female characters in gaming. Join us for a look back at the prominent choices who fit the bill, as well as how black women can be done better in video games.

The news this week has us discuss Nintendo apparently working on a new game in The Legend of Zelda franchise and upcoming NES games to expect for Nintendo Switch Online. That’s followed by a robust talk about console wars after a former president of Sega admitted the Genesis was made purely to beat Nintendo. Then we look at a new Tamagotchi being released… starring Eevee the Pokemon! The end of the show has us dive into the debacle that was the Diablo Immortal announcement.

This week’s Stage of History has us kick things off celebrating black female characters with Beyond Good & Evil and Resident Evil 5. Robert then gets rowdy in Obscura with Urban Chaos. Don’t forget to grab ahold of our game giveaways, then stay with us for another round of Random Select! Who could David be this time?
