Animanicast: Discussing Animaniacs Comic Issue #9 “Pulped Fractions”

by The Animanicast

It’s time for the Animanicast! Here’s a discussion of Animaniacs Comic Issue #9 with “Pulped Fractions,” “Natural Born Jokers” and “Reservoir Mice”

Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the “Animanicast!” A podcast dedicated to the classic 90’s cartoon show Animaniacs! Today Nathan and Joey discuss Animaniacs Comic Issue #9. The Warners drive a famous director crazy in  “Pulped Fractions,” Pinky and the Brain hire “Reservoir Mice” to help them conquer the Earth, and we learn that Yakko, Wakko and Dot are “Natural Born Jokers.”

Each week, Joey, Nathan and Kelly revisit an episode of Animaniacs in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find. Today, Joey and Nathan discuss another issue of the classic “Animaniacs” comic series. But will issue #9 be as awesome as the cover promises?

Pulped Fractions

A Quentin Tarantino-type director named Squintin Tarantella is making a new movie in the Warner Bros. studio and the Warners want to be in it! Mr. Plotz however does everything he can to make sure this doesn’t happen. What follows is a pretty boring Warners cartoon with an unsatisfying ending. Nathan and Joey discuss why this story didn’t tickle their funny bones.

Reservoir Mice

The Brain takes Pinky to a seedy bar to hire some mice to help them take over the world with a laughing serum. Unfortunately these mice aren’t incredibly helpful and Pinky and the Brain move on without them. The laughing serum works! Unfortunately, it doesn’t work on their intended targets. This story has some confusing plot and artistic decisions. Nathan and Joey ponder why the creators of this issue made those decisions to begin with.

Natural Born Jokers

Piecing all these segments together is “Natural Born Jokers.” Which shows a news anchor named Wade Wail who wants to tell America about the dangerous jokers: Yakko, Wakko and Dot. In the end, the Warners drive him insane too!
