It’s time again for the Animanicast! Here’s episode sixty discussing “Karaoke Dokie,” “Cranial Crusader,” and much more!
Join your hosts Joey, Nathan and Kelly in the “Animanicast!” A podcast dedicated to the classic 90’s cartoon show Animaniacs! Today’s discussion of episode 60 of Animaniacs features the Warners singing karaoke with a William Shatner lookalike, Pinky and the Brain try to become superheroes, and Chicken Boo poses as a secret agent!
Each and every week, your hosts revisit an episode of the series in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find! Each episode is then given a “Water Tower Rating” by the hosts. How many water towers will this episode get?
Kelly first provides a report on her trip to Dragon Con and discusses her brief interaction with Rob Paulsen. Kelly wore her Animaniacs dress!
Joey and Nathan then share some bad news. Animaniacs is set to leave Netflix on October 1st! Many people have retweeted our tweet stating that we’d like it to stay on Netflix.

Joey then teased some very exciting news coming to our show! We can’t give out any details yet, but it is BIG! Check RetroZap.com or our Twitter or Facebook pages on September 13th for more information!
Finally, Joey shares some listener feedback.
The Warners just want to sing some karaoke songs but a William Shatner-like character is singing non stop. Eventually the Warners are able to stop him, but they must wait for a man who looks and acts like Spock to finish singing!
Joey brings up how this cartoon does a masterful job of parodying William Shatner’s singing style. Some samples of his work is played.
Kelly brings up her memories of Leonard Nemoy and a very strange video about Bilbo Baggins.
She also mentions that her introduction to Leonard Nemoy actually came from a show called “Standby…. Lights, Camera, Action.” A clip is played with Nemoy discussing “Return of the Jedi” and a nine episode Star Wars series.
Memories of karaoke are shared and favorite moments of this very funny cartoon are discussed.
The next cartoon features the Brain attempting to take over the world by first catching a villain as the Cranial Crusader and then taking over the world afterwards. Spoilers: It doesn’t work out.
The hosts discuss some of their favorite moments in this send up to Batman: The Animated Series as well as the original television series with Adam West.
The Chicken Who Loved Me
Next, Chicken Boo is “Boo, James Boo” and he’s very good at it! He almost saves the dayl, but of course messes up at the end.
The hosts discuss how they would like to see more 007 parodies with Chicken Boo if the series gets rebooted.
Kathryn Page Rundown!
Finally, Nathan reviews the jobs that Kathryn Page had using just his amazing audio talents!
