It’s time again for the Animanicast! Here’s episode forty three with “Of Nice and Men,” “What a Dump!” and “Survey Ladies”
Join Joey, Nathan and Kelly for the forty-third episode of the “Animanicast!” A podcast dedicated to the classic 90s cartoon show Animaniacs! Today’s episode features a discussion of episode 43, where Rita and Runt visit a bunny ranch, Buttons saves Mindy from being recycled, and the Warners try and escape “Survey Ladies” who want to ask questions about George Wendt and beans.
Animaniacs S01E43 “Of Nice and Men,” “What a Dump!” and “Survey Ladies”
Each and every week, your hosts revisit an episode of the series in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find! Each episode is then given a “Water Tower Rating” by the hosts. How many water towers will this episode get?
Of Nice and Men
Rita and Runt are on their way to Monterey and stop by a bunny ranch. Rita is put to work in the barn and Runt watches the bunnies. Runt discovers that the owner “Happy Bob” is actually a furrier who wants to skin the rabbits to make coats. The two end up saving all the rabbits and jump on a train to freedom.
The hosts discuss some of the references to “Of Mice and Men” and John Steinbeck in this cartoon. There’s also some very nice songs in this cartoon! Each character is given a chance to sing.
What a Dump
Buttons needs to rescue Mindy once again. This time it’s from the dangers of a recycling plant.
The cartoon features a few references to Speilberg films. Namely “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Jaws.” This ends up moving the discussion of this cartoon onto a tangent that is hard to pull out from. Joey and Kelly debate whether or not the Ark was placed in Area 51 (or is it Hangar 51?) and before you know it, Harrison Ford drops by the Animanicast Studio! Who would have thought an episode of Mindy and Buttons could lead to that?
The Warners visit the mall to buy Dr. Scratchansniff and end up being harassed by two very persistent survey ladies. The two chase the trio throughout the mall and end up becoming a present for Dr. S.
Joey, Nathan, and Kelly discuss their favorite references and moments in this cartoon. Nathan and Joey share their own memories of survey ladies when they were kids and how they tried to get picked, but never did. Kelly shares how baby Plucky influenced her so much that she can never enter an elevator without quoting him.
The twitter poll results are shared and then this week’s question is given. Go to our twitter page or simply search on twitter for #animanicastpoll to find this week’s poll and make your voice heard!
