Each and every week, your hosts revisit an episode of the series in the order in which they first premiered. They discuss their favorite jokes, gags, and discuss all the cultural references they can find! Each episode is given a “Water Tower Rating” by the hosts. How many water towers will this episode get? This thirteenth episode features the Warners meeting Mr. Director for the first time, the Hip Hippos try to sing and clean at the same time, and Slappy races her car through Pasadena to a familiar song.

Hello Nice Warners

  • In the first cartoon the Warners meet Mr. Director who is a parody of the legendary comedian, Jerry Lewis. Mr. Director has to have the Warners in his next movie but the group can’t see eye to eye when it comes to the vision of the film. First the director tries to direct the Warners in a scene similar to one found in the Jerry Lewis comedy, “Who’s Minding the Store.” When that doesn’t work, the Warners take over and direct Mr. Director in “Old Screamer” (Old Yeller) and “Illinois Smith” (Indiana Jones). In the end, Mr. Director runs away and Yakko admits that, “That man, is a genius.”

La Behemoth

  • The second segment features the Hip Hippos in their first full segment. When their maid quits, the two hippos try to clean and cook for themselves all while singing operatically. It’s a segment that has some Salvador Dali references hidden within it and has some similarities to “What’s Opera Doc?” Note: Joey still can’t remember the hippos’ names so there’s some not-so-subtle audio corrections in post.

Little Old Slappy from Pasadena

  • Slappy is taking the mail to the mailbox in her hot rod all to the tune of “Little Old Lady from Pasadena.” It’s basically a music video with some zaniness thrown in. There does appear to be a reference to American Graffiti however.
