The Trade Federation #67

The show kicks off this week with Joe and Brent handling the listener voicemails from Sean and Curt, including a pretty epic trivia showing from Brent. As usual, Joe’s only trivia contribution is to be another random guess and try to keep the undefeated streak alive.

After the calls are wrapped up the guys launch into a discussion about what sets from 2015 are still hot or coming back around to be highly sought after. The poll results are fairly well split, but there are some stand outs from among our list of ‘non-obvious’ 2015 sets. In an effort to get the most interesting results the poll omitted obvious choices such as Reflections and Santa Cruz that have held value for the long haul. Unsurprisingly, the Hoth Planetary set has been the one that most people recognize as having renewed value with the passage of time.

Brent takes a few moment to mourn the passing of the 5000 credit pack. It had been a mainstay of the Star Wars Card Trader experience for so long that the fact it essentially no longer exists for insert pulls feels like the end of an era. Despite all the gloom and doom predicted, things seem to be rolling along fine without the 5k pack for most people. In fact the more expensive packs with easier odds seem to work better for the majority of the people using the app, so maybe Topps is on to something.

Joe ends the episode my reconfirming his dedication to Tarkin cards with his new strategy of getting rid of almost everything that doesn’t feature the man himself! Brent spends some time lamenting the lack of Captain Tarpals in the new sets and dreams of a day when everyone’s favorite Gungan commander might return in glory to Star Wars Card Trader.

Happy Hunting everyone!
