May the Fourth be with you!

By Mike Audette //  Tomorrow is officially Star Wars Day (even my calendar says so.) Playing off the famous saying from the films, May the Force be with you,” May the Fourth seemed to come as a logical fit. What can you do to celebrate May the Fourth? You can watch a Star Wars movie or television show, listen to the film scores from the incomparable John Williams, make some Star Wars-themed food, or what most outlets would like to see you do, buy things!

May the Fourth

A good thing about there being a Star Wars day is that a lot of companies and businesses agree to get on board and participate in sales and provide exclusive Star Wars merchandise. In honor of the current Force for Change campaign, Disney Parks will be offering exclusive Rogue One: A Star Wars Story t-shirts with 25 percent of the selling price being donated to the U.S. fund for UNICEF. Last year they did the same with t-shirts featuring The Force Awakens logo and a First Order Stormtrooper on them and I was lucky enough to get one courtesy of the Collectors Hutt’s own Chris Salton. Hopefully another kind soul will be able to get me one of these new Rogue One shirts. You will be able to find these shirts starting on sale tomorrow at Disneyland Resort in California (Disneyland park – The Star Trader and Star Wars Launch Bay and Downtown Disney District – D-Street and World of Disney), Walt Disney World in Florida (Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Tatooine Traders and Star Wars Launch Bay and Disney Springs – Star Wars Galactic Outpost and Once Upon A Toy), as well as Magic Kingdom Park – Merchants of Venus.

There is still so much more to be had though! All different kinds of retailers will be offering sales and deals to collect a range of Star Wars items. Over at Sphero, you can get the App-Enabled BB-8 for a low price of $129.99! The new update to the mobile app that lets BB-8 interact with The Force Awakens is a perfect way to celebrate the day. GameStop stores will be offering limited May the Fourth only deals and an exclusive Poe Dameron #1 variant cover. Target will be having a pretty sweet deal where you get a free $10 gift card when you spend at least $50 worth of Star Wars merchandise on Target.com. Target had something similar to that a few weeks ago on in store deals when I got some of the Steel-book Blu-Rays. Collectors out there should be on the lookout at Kohl’s as they will be offering 20% off of Star Wars Hasbro items on Kohls.com with the promo code MAYTHE4th. Hallmark has been a staple in recent years for Star Wars merchandise and they will not be skimping out for May the Fourth. Be sure to check out Hallmark.com/StarWars tomorrow for exclusive product reveals. It goes without saying that Her Universe will be having special events for May the Fourth. Ashley Eckstein’s geek fashion outlet will be debuting new Star Wars items as well as a free “May The 4th Be With You” patch on orders of $25 or more. Be sure to check out StarWars.com for a full listing of all happening tomorrow.

Brick-and-mortar retailers aren’t the only ones getting in on the action either. Plenty of Digital-only deals are also to be had tomorrow. Apple will be having sales with up to 50% off of select Star Wars games such as Star Wars: Commander and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. Google Play and Amazon will be following suit like Apple and offering their own deals on Star Wars mobile games and apps. Steam and GOG.com will be having crazy deals with up to 77% (nice touch) off of Star Wars games!!! PlayStation and XBox will also be having up to 77% (hmmmm) off of games such as Star Wars Battlefront and Disney Infinity 3.0. Head over to StarWars.com to check out their full list of all the digital deals going on tomorrow.

In the end, May the Fourth is about celebrating all there is to love about Star Wars and coming together to join in with the greater fandom community. Have fun out there!
