The Audette Set: August 30th (Star Wars this fall)

by RetroZap Staff

What’s coming up Star Wars this fall? Here are Mike’s hot takes, coming right up.

By Mike Audette //  Well boys and girls, we’re in the eye of the storm. Not just because it’s hurricane season. There is pretty much nothing going on right now for news. Here’s what I’m looking forward to in Star Wars this fall.

Rebels

The release of this article matches the release day of the Star Wars Rebels season two Blu-ray. Rebels season three kicks off Saturday night September 24th at 9 pm eastern. Season three looks absolutely ridiculous. The first two episodes introduce Thrawn to the continuity and it’s gonna be a roller-coaster. There’s other surprises in store. I just want to see what happens with Maul. The dude is like a cosmic force of nature.

Comics

The end of the Darth Vader comic series is coming in October. Kieron Gillen has been a godsend to the Dark Lord of the Sith. The entire 25-issue run will come together in a collected hardcover later in the year. Han Solo is currently running and that series is just fun as hell. Even if he isn’t your favorite character pick it up. Princess Leia will be featured in the second Star Wars annual. The first Star Wars annual went on to inform an entire story-arc on the series. I think this one probably will too. Not sure if there will be anything comics for Rogue One as of now.

Books

The big book releases I can’t wait for are aplenty this fall. The YA novel, Ahsoka, is out in October. (I may or may not have gotten a copy at SDCC and read it already.) Catalyst, the Rogue One prequel novel, is out in November. It’s written by James Luceno, who wrote Tarkin and Darth Plagueis so I automatically know I’m going to love it. Still unknown what it is about though. I’ll get it first day regardless. December’s got the Rogue One novelization by Alexander Freed which will be good. He’s excellent in writing military sci-fi. It’ll be interesting to see what comes out to add more to the characters. Also new editions of the Thrawn trilogy are coming with new cover artwork. I’ll need those for the collection.

Figures and Games

Rogue Friday is supposedly coming on September 30th, the sequel to Force Friday. I might get some Black Series’. Who knows. I didn’t get any last year. I was all about the books last year, which they don’t have this time around. I’ll get all of, if not most of the Funko POPs. (DengarDan has taught me well.) Gimme that Kaytoo POP. Death Star DLC is coming to Battlefront in a few weeks. I got that on lock.

Rogue One isn’t out until December 16th. It seems like a long way to wait but there’s still plenty to enjoy in the meantime in Star Wars this fall.
